Lidal North
Lidal North was created by JOHN LIDAL. The mission of the program is to provide a comprehensive program for singers at an advanced level, including: vocal technique, vocal and body coaching, and performance and audition opportunities.
Located in Oslo, Norway, the program will present its Opera Workshop May 31 - June 10, 2009. This ten day workshop will present several evening concerts at several venues throughout Oslo, as well as daily master classes at the Norwegian Opera Academy with PATRICIA MCCAFFREY, one of the leading vocal technicians in the world today. Masterclasses and concerts will be open to the public. In addition to Ms McCaffrey, the bass-baritone MARK SCHNAIBLE will be teaching and giving masterclasses. As one of the foremost artists of our time, Mark Schnaible is an invaluable addition to this year's LidalNorth!
ANN RODIGER brings her experience of over 25 years in the Alexander Technique, Laban Movement Analysis and Observation, Dance Notation, movement education, and her own dance performance experience to her work with singers. We welcome her warmly to LidalNorth!
As one of the leading linguists and much sought-after language coaches for singers in Scandinavia today, WENCKE OPHAUG will be returning to the workshop this year, giving individual coachings, as well as masterclasses.
Also, Mr. BORIS ANIFANTAKIS, Head of the Opernstudio (Young Artist Program) at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Berlin, will be coaching the participants in this year's workshop.
Additionally, the program is also pleased to welcome back GAÏT SIRGUEY, one of the most renown vocal coaches today, with a specialty in French Performance Practice. Ms Sirguey will offer individual coachings, as well as giving master classes.
Finally, singers will receive individual coachings with John Lidal, who has worked with many of the world's leading opera singers and has a vast knowledge of operatic and song repertoire. Patricia McCaffrey's daily lessons are held in a masterclass setting. Additionally, masterclasses will be given by Eli Kristin Hanssveen, Elizabeth Norberg-Schulz, and Wencke Ophaug.
